-A green sheet went home with your child today called "Moon Phase Journal."  It is an assignment for our Science Unit on Space.  I have asked the students to draw the moon each night for fourteen nights.  Today, we learned about moon phases and this activity will help solidify this concept.  Ask your child about their Oreo moon phase activity!
-Each week, I plan on posting photos from the previous week activities on our bulletin board by our class door.  Feel free to check it out!  Photos will be sent home at the end of the week.

Hello Everyone,
An important blue newsletter went home with your child (youngest in the school) concerning next years' enrollment.  Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Saturday, 11 January 2014

Welcome Back,

It has been a busy first week.  I have enjoyed meeting so many of you and look forward to this year teaching in your child's class.  If you ever want to meet to discuss your child's progress and/or have questions or concerns, I am more than willing to meet with you.

The raining season is upon us and I have noticed that a lot of students are getting wet at recess and lunch. Students need to have appropriate outdoor gear that fits the weather.  I am also encouraging students to bring an extra pair of socks/pants that they could have for those times they do get overly wet.  If you can help us in this, that would be great

Some new units we are starting are: Space, Pastels and Paints, First Aid.

In Math, grade 2s are working on multi-digit addition and grade 3s are working only skip counting and multiplying by 8.
In LA, we are working on fixing incomplete sentences, suffixes and making connections with the books we are reading.  I have noticed that a lot of students are avid readers, keep up the great work.

Monday Jan. 13
-Bible memory work Matt. 6:21.  Students will unscramble words to make the verse.  Please review the verse for Monday.
-Individual and class photos will be sent home.
-Home reading logs and book reports are going home.  Book reports are due January 29. Hand in reading logs when completed.  Let's keep reading!
-Memory verse this week will be Mat. 6:34.
-Spelling homework- suffixes "ing" and "ed"
Tuesday Jan. 14

Wednesday Jan.15
PE:  We are going to have a trial run for the Grade 3s only on changing into their PE clothes.  Grade  three students should wear their school uniforms and bring their PE clothes to change into. It is my goal that they only take a maximum of five minutes to change. Grade two students can wear their PE clothes for the day.
Thursday Jan. 16

Friday Jan. 17
PE, Chapel, Library.

Upcoming Events:

Staff Retreat Jan. 30, 31, 2014: No School
