Weekly Update: May 27th-31st

Hello Grade Three Families,

Today's blog post is very important as it has most of the information for the end of the year. The only date I need to confirm is that of Beach Day.

I'm so excited for this week's performances. Your kids have been working so hard! We're very excited to show you what we've been working towards. I HUGE shout  out to Shelia Reader-Romo. Shelia has been working non-stop these days as the dramatical director of the Musical. Thank you Shelia!

For those students that are involved in the Cast and Who group, please make sure you bring your own make-up as it is unsanitary to borrow another person's.

For those students in the choir, you are to wear your spring uniform to all performances.

Weekly Update: May 21st-24th

Hello Grade Three Families!

The count down to the Seussical is on! Practices are in full swing. For practice times and other things to take notice of please check out our awesome website (made by grade 6 students). http://wrcaseussical.weebly.com/

I need to apologize as I forgot to send home the math homework on Wednesday after school. Instead the students did it during Thursdays morning block. This wednesday there will be homework. Students are working on 3 digit by 2 digit multiplication. I'm very confident that with practice the students will catch on to this concept very quickly! The homework sheet will reflect this week's lesson. Thank you for practicing your child's multiplication tables at home. It really helps build confidence!

Today in your child's planner you would have received TWO permission forms. During the first week of June (June 5th and 6th) your child will have chance to not only visit the Surrey Art Gallery but also Arocha. We know that having two field trips on the same week asks a lot from you the parents, but we thought after putting so much effort into the musical your child deserve two exciting field trips. If you're able to drive for at least of these we'd be very appreciative! Both are very close to the school. Thank you for always being so supportive of our fun adventures!

If you have any questions or concern regarding the math please feel free to chat with me. Your children are handling these complex concepts with such enthusiasm and excitement  I love seeing the light bulb come on as they get it!

Weekly Update: May 13-17th

Hello Parents!

For those with students in the musical, please note there is a website (made by two students in grade 6) that gives the schedule for all practices and who's needed at these practices. The address is:  http://wrcaseussical.weebly.com/. I also have a schedule posted in my classroom as well.

Last week I taught the students the Math-U-See, and I know some of struggling with the organization of math. The main difference is that the regrouping of the multliplcation is placed just under the question, instead of above. The reason for this is that it allows for all addition to happen together, and gives students a better understanding of the concept. If you have any questions at all regarding how to do the math, PLEASE COME AND SEE ME! I'd love to help you, so you can better help your child at home. My door is always open.

Lastly, as some of you know there are a few families leaving our class community at the end of this school year. I would really love to do something for the students leaving as a memory of their time with us. If any creative minds have an idea of something we could do a momento please let me know.

Thanks for allowing me to teach your brilliant, spunky, and lovable kids!

Weekly Update: May 13-17th

Hi Parents,

Thank you for partnering with me to discuss playground behaviours. I know that many students have apologized for their actions to others and how this has impacted our class community. I look forward to moving pass this, and completing our year with great memories!

Grandparents Day is next Friday, May 17th. We're in need of some parent volunteers for the morning. This is a great way to complete your volunteer hours. The theme this year is Seussical! It's going to be a great morning of connecting with our Grandparents & Grand-friends. Invites to go home Tuesday.
