Weekly Update: Jan 28-Feb 1

Hi Parents!

   Your child might have told you already, but over the next five weeks they will be doing book talks during our Friday library block. The expectation is that each student will read a book at their level (picture book or chapter book), complete the book talk sheet (will be sent home Tuesday with your child), and on their presentation come to school with the completed sheet as well as being prepared to give a 2-3 minute share on their book. Below you will find the dates each student signed up for. If you have questions please feel free to email me or come by after school. Thanks!

Also this week our class has the opportunity to perform at chapel. We will be introducing the concept of Healthy Living and the Lunch Box Olympics to the rest of Elementary. If you'd like to join us we'll be starting at 11:20-11:50 in the chapel. We'd love to see you there!

   Today I sent you an email regarding upcoming field trips. Sorry for the delay, but I had to reschedule one of our field trips to due the February 8th View Day. If you did not get an email (or you haven't gotten any of my emails) please let me know.

Just a reminder that next week will be a short week due to our staff retreat (No school Thursday or Friday).

Weekly Update: January 14-18th

Hello Parents,

   Today was a great day! One of my favourites. Not only did we start Junior Great Books, but the kids were also introduced to their 'Pioneer Families'! I'm looking forward to the fun they'll have this term exploring what it's like being a pioneer.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, is the first time students will be required to change into their PE strip at school. I've chatted with the class already about my expectations, and want to relay them to you so you know what is expected. Students have been asked to bring their PE gear in a labeled cloth bag, which they will put their uniform in after changing into their PE clothing. During the first few weeks I only allow in 3 students at a time; this helps to decrease silliness and goofing around. Students are given 3 minutes to change, clean up their gear, and exit with their bag. They do not leave their PE strip in the change room. They bring it will them to PE class. After class they change back and we carry on with our day. I'm very confident that this group of students will be able to handle this new responsibility. If your child is prone to sweating during physical activity, it might be a good idea to send them to school with a deodorant stick. For hygien reasons students will only be allowed to change in the change room not the bathrooms.

Weekly Update Jan 7-11

Hello Parents!

  Happy New Year! I hope you had a restful and enjoyable Christmas break! I had two weeks of playing with my boys and enjoying some much needed relaxation time! Thank for you for the thoughtful gifts and encouraging cards. Geoff and I went to Chapters for a date over the break, and greatly enjoyed getting some new books while sipping our Starbucks. Thank you so much!

I've postponed the girls group for NEXT Monday, as the first week back is quite busy and crazy! Could I have a female parent bring a treat for the girl on Monday? Thanks!
