Weekly Update: January 14-18th

Hello Parents,

   Today was a great day! One of my favourites. Not only did we start Junior Great Books, but the kids were also introduced to their 'Pioneer Families'! I'm looking forward to the fun they'll have this term exploring what it's like being a pioneer.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, is the first time students will be required to change into their PE strip at school. I've chatted with the class already about my expectations, and want to relay them to you so you know what is expected. Students have been asked to bring their PE gear in a labeled cloth bag, which they will put their uniform in after changing into their PE clothing. During the first few weeks I only allow in 3 students at a time; this helps to decrease silliness and goofing around. Students are given 3 minutes to change, clean up their gear, and exit with their bag. They do not leave their PE strip in the change room. They bring it will them to PE class. After class they change back and we carry on with our day. I'm very confident that this group of students will be able to handle this new responsibility. If your child is prone to sweating during physical activity, it might be a good idea to send them to school with a deodorant stick. For hygien reasons students will only be allowed to change in the change room not the bathrooms.
