Weekly Update: April 15-19th

Hello Parents,

I need to apologize. Last week and the before I was so focused on preparing for Student-led Conferences that we, as a class, missed our weekly verses. My personal philosophy on Bible memory is that reciting the verse is only one aspect of Bible; understanding what is being said by Jesus is the other part. So last week we weren't able to talk about the context of the verses, and so the student weren't tested on it. Now that classroom life has returned to normal we will get back on track with Bible. I have omitted the students from those verses. This week's verse is Mark 8:2 and we will be doing a verse scramble.

In Math we are beginning to work on multi-digit multiplication. Practice is essential for mastery, and so our new class policy is that if the chapter work isn't completed by Thursday that student is required to finish it at home for homework before taking the test. Also, every student is expected to be practising their math facts weekly. I have noticed this past week that many students are forgetting their 1-10 times tables. There are so many great websites out there that help reinforce this essential skill. My expectation is that practice will be happening throughout the week at home.

Lastly, please encourage your child to check the Seussical Musical Jr. board outside the office for practice times. It is so important that they make all the practices.

Thank you and have a wonderful week!

Mrs. Kullman
